Prayer Mini-Lesson 5

Praying Bible Prayers

God won’t turn down prayers that He wrote for you himself! One of the most effective ways to turbo-charge your prayer life is to pray prayers right out of the Bible. (And you won’t have to worry if your request is scriptural or not!) Because you know you’re praying God’s will (His word IS His will for you!), you can pray these prayers for yourself and others in faith, knowing that you are guaranteed an answer! I encourage you to refer to these prayers often and use them.

Ephesians 1:15-23:
Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints; do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.  And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 3:14-21:
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height – to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.  Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever.  Amen.

Philippians 1:9-11:
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Colossians 1:9-12:
For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.

Colossians 4:12:
Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

1 Thessalonians 1:12:
And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you,

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12:
Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:16:
Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way…

2 Corinthians 13:7:
Now I pray to God that you do no evil…

3 John 2:
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

There are other prayers we will discuss elsewhere for leaders and government officials.  But the prayers above can be prayed for anyone.
